Larry started dancing in 1978 and Laurel joined the activity in 1979. Their club membership includes K-Laires and Lone Wranglers, both of Manhattan. They served K-Laires as advisors for two years. In the Lone Wrangler Square Dance Club, Larry served four terms as Trail Boss (President) and Laurel served three terms as Trail Boss. Larry also served one year as Ram Rod (Vice President).

Laurel has served as the Money Bags or co Money Bags (Treasurer) Nine times. As a couple they have also been the North Central District Chairman. For eight years Larry has been on the North Central District Nominating Committee.

Larry and Laurel have served two terms as HASSDA Convention Coordinator. They were elected North Central District Chairman for two terms. Volunteering to serve, Larry and Laurel have been on the District Nomination Committee for eight years.

Larry and Laurel joined KSDA in February 1980. They are currently and have been very active members for 34 years. When approached by the President, Larry and Laurel accepted as KSDA Historian. They served in this position on the Executive Council for almost nine years, collecting historical dancing information and submitting timely informative articles to Travel On. Serving as Directors of Shops, Larry and Laurel have been on the Kansas State Convention Committee for nine years.

Larry and Laurel were Vice-Chairman of the Hospitality Committee for the 57th National Square Dance Convention®. They have attended 30 State Conventions, 3 National Square Dance Conventions®, and have enjoyed attending the US West Conventions.

If every dancer was as committed and dedicated as Laurel and Larry, square dancing would have no lack of volunteers.
