Clayton & Edith Frisbie

Clayton and Edith started dancing in the fall of 1966. Stopping in the early 1970’s, they returned to dancing in 1989. They continued dancing until Clayton’s death in September, 1997. Edith passed away in February, 1998.

They were members of the Topeka clubs Do-SI-Do, Wheatheart Squares, and Top-Kans Twirlers.

Always accepting a challenge, Clayton and Edith served as officers and committee members in both the Top-Kan Twirlers and Wheatheart Squares. Dressed in red trimmed with white fur, this jolly couple were Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for the Topeka area clubs.

They even helped with the formation of a exhibition group that square danced on roller skates. This group performed at several square dance events and Clayton and Edith had their own family square.

Clayton and Edith were Secretary of the Northeast District for nine years. Designing and making the first State Convention Button, they were Director of Buttons for the State Convention for 12 years. Serving on the State Convention Decoration Committee, Clayton and Edith made decorations and were in Salina early to decorate the Bicentennial Center 3 different years. Clayton and Edith helped decorate for the Northeast Tenderfoot and Northeast Callers Festival numerous times along with many holidays celebrated at Croco Hall.

Joining KSDA in October 1977, Clayton and Edith were members until September 1998, 21 continuous years. They attended 15 State Conventions and 11 National Conventions. They were very proud to have four generations of their family square dancing together. For 13 years, Clayton was New Dancer Photographer for the Travel On.

Clayton and Edith were always willing to help wherever needed. They were great ambassadors of the Square Dance Activity.
