Lyle and Laura Mae have been square dancing for 43 years. They joined KSDA in September 1977 and are currently active members. Lyle and Laura Mae are one of the longest active memberships in KSDA, 37 continuous years.

They were members of the Sunflower Steppers, Osage City, the Kuntry Kuzzins and Plus Squares, Topeka, and are currently members of the Friendship Squares, Topeka.

They have served as club Presidents 16 times, and have accumulated 21 years serving as Vice-presidents, Secretary and Treasurer in the three clubs. The Northeast District benefited from their being Club Coordinator for 7 years and club delegates to the Northeast District for 25 years.

At the state level, Lyle and Laura Mae were KSDA 2nd Vice-President for 1 year, 1st Vice-President for 2 years, and KSDA President for 2 years. After 1 year as Ex-Officio, Lyle and Laura Mae were members of the KSDA Budget Committee for over 15 years. They also served as State Historian, compiling dancing history and submitting articles to Travel On for 6 years.

Lyle and Laura Mae were Dancer Coordinators for the 1991 Kansas State Convention. They were Director of Advance Tickets sales for 2 years, and have attended 34 State Conventions. They have attended 23 National Conventions, and were delegates to United Square Dancers of America 3 times. They served as Vice-Chairman of Ways and Means for the 57th National Square Dance Convention® conducting a very profitable marketing endeavor. Kansas is fortunate to have Lyle and Laura Mae as committed dancers and leaders.
