Members of Salina Twirlers, Salina, they served several terms in every club office, as well as Chairpersons of numerous committees. Besides serving as chairpersons of numerous committees, supporting District functions, and constructing District banners, Jim and Jody were North Central Chairpersons from 1993-1994.

Joining KSDA in July 1980, they were very active members for 20 years, serving 2, two-year terms as 1st Vice Chairpersons (1984-1986); 2, two-year terms as KSDA President (1986-1988) and as KSDA Ex-Officio from 1988-1989.

Jim and Jody organized, promoted and served as Chairpersons of the 1st Sunflower Conclave. They were Dancer Coordinators of the Kansas State Square Dance Convention in 1983 and 1984, and numerous Committee Chairpersons. They attended 20+ Kansas State Square Dance Conventions.

Nominated by the KSDA Membership for each office, Jim and Jody served as Treasurer of the United Square Dancers of America (USDA) in 1991-1993, as USDA Vice President of the Plains Region in 1993-1995, and USDA President in 1995-1997.

Jim and Jody served as Co-Editors of Travel On for four years (1981-1984), retiring in July 1984. Jody contributed Travel On covers and with the October 1981 issue started writing “From My Mailbox,” an advice/recipe column. She retired in 1989.They were awarded the Legacy’s “Circle of Service Award” for their service to square dancing, and attended 15+ National Square Dance Conventions®.

After retiring, Jim and Jody moved to Alamo, Texas. They served in each office, whether at the club, state or national level, with dignity. They stood straight and strong beside KSDA, Travel On, and square dancing in Kansas. Jim passed away in January, 2011.
