Mike & Iris Huddleson
Wichita, Kansas
Mike and Iris Huddleson started dancing in 1967 and became Charter members of the Peach Capital Roadrunners of Haysville, KS. Mike, with Iris at his side, soon became interested in calling and in 1971 he picked up the mic and became a caller. As a dancer and a caller, this couple has been in various clubs.
They were Charter members of the Peach Capital Roadrunners, Haysville, KS; a twenty-two (22) year member of the Friendly Steppers and are members of the Village Steppers, Kansas Kountree Kloggers and Camping Squares. They’ve served as the club caller for two of these clubs. They’ve been active in various clubs for a combined total of 77 years. That’s a lot of time on or leading a dance floor!
Mike and Iris have held all leadership positions in our local, regional and state square dance organizations, i.e., President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Their favorite form of dance is the hexagon squares. They gave their talents in various positions and with some very interesting forms of dance for the Kansas Square Dance Convention Committee and provided leadership for the 57th and 62nd National Square Dance Conventions. They have attended almost all of the national conventions since 1975 as a volunteer caller, vendor, worker and participant.
Mike and Iris claim some of the most memorial events of their dancing/calling years were when they were awarded the South District Federation Spring, 1993, Spotlight Couple; when they were the featured caller for the KSDA Fall Jubilee in 2000; and the featured caller for the Northeast Oklahoma District in April, 1998. Mike enjoys calling hexagon squares.

Iris how many signatures from our Kansas Cooks did you collect in your copy of the 57th Cookbook? Our autographs won’t ever be worth millions; but, the honor and respect you showed us were priceless to us.
Mike and Iris, you made a difference to our Square Dance Community!
